There Are Things That Never Go Out Of Fashion: Nobility And Good Manners

While it is obvious that we enjoy a certain anonymity on social networks, we must all learn to empathize with others and to prioritize good manners and good education over the rest.

In our changing, complex and dynamic world, there are roots that continue to give us strength and courage. Even though our society is moving forward very quickly, there are things that keep us afloat: nobility, sincerity, respect, good manners …

There is something that we see a lot on social media: the lack of respect between users.

Thanks to anonymity, it is common for disrespectful dynamics to be put into practice. The goal here is to harm other people or other collectives.

The world of social networks is a complex place where the best and the worst of the human being are reflected.

This precious communication tool is undoubtedly a wonderful world that enriches us with knowledge. But, if used improperly, it can turn out to be very harmful.

This is why we have to be very intuitive and skilled in the education of our children.

We have to show them that there are aspects that must always remain fundamental: respect between people and good manners.

These are values of great power in a world where information is shared in seconds, where one can communicate with any person on the planet.

If we pass on nobility, we will create a hopeful future.

It is worth investing in this “art”. Not to let good manners disappear in this society where we no longer need to see people face-to-face to be friends, where love can arise between two people who are thousands of kilometers away.

We suggest you think about this.

Good manners on social networks

In 2014, the social network Facebook was forced to invest money, time and effort in the formation of a dimension that apparently was slipping from its hands: good manners.

This may seem like a curious, and even worrying, fact. Have people forgotten what respect is?

In reality, no one has forgotten. But these are very favorable places for the deployment of dangerous behavior. Like cyberstalking or cyberbullying , for example.

As curious as it may seem, doing harm is sometimes easier than promoting respect, attention, and living together. Dimensions that the younger generations do not always know.

To avoid or at least control this type of dynamic, a figure has been created by Facebook, which is called Mr. Nice.

We are going to explain to you what is the function of this person of the most powerful social network in the world, and on which the newspaper The New York Times devoted a very interesting article.

Internet harassment, a growing problem

Facebook officials are aware that the phenomenon of harassment in social networks is only increasing.

In work carried out by the Pew Research’s Internet Project, it was found, for example, that almost 65% of young Americans between the ages of 18 and 29 had already been bullied on Facebook.

  • All this forced the social network to create Mr Nice, a figure behind which are more than 80 workers whose function is to guarantee, as far as possible, the safety and respect of users.
  • We designed, for example, the option to control who tags us and to be able to verify and accept or not the material on which we appear.
  • Mr. Nice has a system that allows him to decide what type of photos can be published or not on the social network. The offensives are censored.

Likewise, the profiles of users who misuse the network to promote violence are eliminated.

  • Everyone who works behind Mr. Nice agrees on one point: when they share things, they do so with positive intention. The good always takes precedence over the bad.

However, no one can measure the impact that their actions can have on others.

So we can’t control everything.

But the most famous social network in the world knows that fighting for respect and good manners between users is something that must be worked on every day.

For a more respectful world, for a more dignified future

Creating a more dignified future for us and the new generations takes will, effort and dedication.

It is possible that the current complex panorama, presenting so many social problems and political crises, prevents us from being able to imagine a future full of hope, more worthy and full of opportunities.

However, it is important to think about certain aspects:

  • Big changes are driven by the will and nobility of many people, small entities that do “a lot”.
  • Respect, nobility and good manners are values that should never go out of fashion. They must be defended in every day-to-day situation: work, family, social networks.
  • Another thing to remember: an act of kindness has a lot more impact than an act of contempt. Kindness inspires and is transmitted.

It is therefore worth sowing small seeds of goodness and hope, those which will bear their best fruits tomorrow.
