A spare bedroom should focus on one clear theme. It can be a landscape (beach, country, forest, among others) a particular style (floral, ethnic, spiritual, animal, antique, etc.); or a certain tone (pastel, neutral, lively, earth or other). The important thing is to clarify and “soften” the vision. Because of course, it is not a question of personalizing the room to your liking, but of making it pleasant for everyone and for all tastes.

This is why we generally use tones of white, ivory and raw on the walls. Indeed, these are perfect for giving a feeling of space and brightness. Although this is a space in your home, you shouldn’t put too many accessories in it. It is also best to place only one at a strategic point, such as a dresser.

It could be a painting, a tapestry, a handmade piece of fabric, or even a wall sticker (or sticker ). Of course, if the accessory is very striking in its entirety, we can turn it into the center of attention of the bedroom and add some objects on a surface (table, chest of drawers or bedside table).

Now we need to clarify something important: spare rooms should make the person feel at home. Therefore, the fabrics that will decorate the bed and the window should be pleasing to the eye and to the touch ! Remember that a bed that has a soft appearance, with full and soft cushions, will invite rest and sleep.

What should you know about the spare bedroom?

• Keep in mind that neutrality is not synonymous with coldness. There is a very big difference between a room decorated in a neutral style and a room that does not reflect any effort.
• On the bedside table you can place a carafe of water and a small glass. So, if your guests are thirsty at night, they won’t have to move; this will prevent them from feeling intimidated or intrusive.
• It is important that you always air the room of your guests and that you place a pleasant scent element: it can be a candle, incense or an essential oil.

• On the other hand, the bed sheets must always be clean and ready to receive. This way your guests will sleep at ease and it will make you a caring host.
• The closet in this guest bedroom should only have a set of extra towels and blankets. They could come in handy on cool winter nights.
• If the bedroom has a built-in bathroom, keep it, however, minimalist yet welcoming. Then it must also be kept clean and in good condition. You should also anticipate the needs of your guests and place in the bathroom: toilet soap and a set of clean towels, at a minimum.
• You can place a mirror in a corner of the room or inside the closet door.

A guest bedroom is not an unnecessary room in the house, far from it. This is the space we use to receive the people closest to us : like our family members or our friends.
