7 Tips For Appreciating Your Own Sanity

Taking care of your mental health is essential. When we talk about mental health we almost instinctively think of those clinical disorders that completely alter the quality of life of a person and those around him. But, in reality, many people face their daily lives with emotional issues that give rise to underlying illnesses.

This is the case with hidden depressions or anxiety attacks which directly affect calm and psychological balance. No one is immune to this reality, in which it is often our own thoughts and actions that act as real enemies.

It is therefore necessary to take them into account, to identify them, to examine them closely and to reinterpret these interior worlds. We will thus be able to face our life with more firmness, with better self-esteem and a certain desire to take the reins of our well-being.

Below, we suggest you practice this “self-examination”. It is only a question of appreciating certain dimensions to know if we are in good shape or if we are missing something.

1. I am obsessed with facts that have yet to be produced

Anticipating negative facts directly affects our mental health. It’s not just about “thinking the worst”, imagining that whatever you do, everything will turn out badly.

We can also see the following dimensions:

  • think so much about things that in the end, we are exhausted and we no longer want to act;
  • obsessing over certain details, words or facts by analyzing them in great detail.

2. Addiction to the past

Living in nostalgia is neither good nor healthy. We fall into a state of total vulnerability, to the point of losing all hope in the present.

Understand that yesterday is just a box from which we have to learn one-off learning to be able to apply it in the present. This is where the real opportunity to be happy lies.

3. Focusing too much on what others say and do affects mental health

We are aware that we do not live on islands of loneliness. We have to live together, work with each other, share things.

But living together does not mean being dependent, a slave to the opinions of others and to value judgments. What others say and do should not affect us to the point of changing the way we see life or our way of being.

6. When I have a problem, I escape, I hide it

Here is another common strategy. When something bothers us, preoccupies us, or alters our inner balance, we choose to “get away from it all”.

  • If I’m unhappy at home, I try to spend the most time outside.
  • If I have a problem with someone, I avoid crossing them.

All these behaviors do not solve anything. We only intensify the discomfort and postpone this moment when you will have no other choice but to provide an answer to the problem.

7. Being unable to say “NO” affects one’s mental health

Practicing the assertion on a daily basis promotes good mental health. On the other hand, if we are not able to say “yes” without feeling guilty and to say “no” without fear, we will navigate the ocean of frustration and unhappiness.

Anyone who does not know how to set limits will allow the arrows of contempt and manipulation to enter their personal field. Don’t let that happen.
